TrendyDigital WaterGuard Waterproof Case, Waterproof Cover for Apple iPad, Blue Border
I haven’t tried this bag in person yet but I’m about to order it – because we will be using the iPad aboard a cruising yacht accessing marine apps such as charts, tide tables, and instrumentation monitors. Considering the exposure to weather and ocean spray, this looks like a perfect solution. From the photo the plastic appears to be sturdy and the strap is a plus. Maybe the 1-star reviewer was being a little harsh, not taking into consideration the value of this form of protection. Yes a ziploc would work, but pretty flimsy for the purpose.
UPDATE: Now that my TrendyDigital iPad case has arrived, I stand by my 4 star review. It arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised by the features not mentioned on the website. The bag is a flexible soft vinyl like material with clear iPad sized windows on both front and back. The closure is a double ziplock closure that folds over itself a couple of times – a standard technique for submersible waterproof bags. On top of that is the black fold-over flap with 2 plastic snaps and a velcro closure to help ensure the ziplocks remains secure. Although not marketed as such, I suspect if it accidentally fell into the water and was rescued quickly, protection would be adequate.
The braided nylon cord has an adjustable plastic tab to allow it to be lengthened and shortened – the strap is long enough to hang the whole works around your neck in which case the iPad will hit about stomach height (I am 5′8″ and the top of the bag hits me just above waist level with the cord fully let out). It also comfortably can hang over one shoulder and under an arm. That means you can conveniently let go if you need both hands for something else; also prevents the accidental drop. It did arrive folded in its original packaging which creates a soft bend in the bag, hopefully something that will fade with time and use.
Obviously I don’t have an iPad yet to check the fit or the ease of working the touch screen through the plastic, but I did see that TrendyDigital makes an identical (except for size) product for the Kindle that is in use and has reviews. I am pleased with what I purchased and think it is ideal for the purpose I have in mind, which is on the deck of a boat where it might get inadvertently splashed by rain or ocean spray.

Not being a boater or beach goer, I don’t find this as useful as I had hoped. I can’t really use my iPad while it’s inside and it left smears on the screen. I’m using it until I get another case, but only if it’s in the pouch that the case came in. I just removed the zipper so it couldn’t scratch the iPad.
On a posItive note, if closed properly, it appears to be waterproof and the cord is convenient.

The reason why I gave the ipad a 3/5 is because I couldnt use it in the bottom of my swimming pool or in far depths of the ocean sea. . GUESS WHAT SUCKAS? NOW I CAN!!!

Purchased it because it sounded like a great idea. It is, if you don’t mind air bubbles which hamper your vision of the screen. Would not recommend. Sadly I ordered one for my son. Now we have two useless Ipad accessories.

I bought this cover so I could use my iPad on the beach. However, I only used it for thirty minutes. . . The screen is already difficult enough to read outdoors and because this case is also very reflective, it was almost impossible to make out the words on the screen with it on.
Also, with polarized sunglasses on, you can’t even SEE the iPad screen.
If you are sitting in the shade and you press this case to the iPad screen until there are no bubbles in it, you can read for a while. But it is not a comfortable situation. There are simply too many obstacles.
